RESIDENTS and shoppers around Llanfyllin will not need their eyes testing a week on Saturday in case they see a herd of inflatable animals walking around.

Instead, it is the Big Inflatable Walk, back for a second year, on Saturday, November 13 as Llanfyllin Young Farmers Club (YFC) and members of the community walk 3.3 miles to raise vital funds for mental health support in agriculture and the DPJ Foundation.

The walk will start at 12pm at The Stumble Inn in Bwlch-y-Cibau and ends in Llanfyllin Town Square, led by town mayor Councillor Peter Lewis.

The event is being organised by Martin and David Bradley-Shaw, Cllr Julian Raymond-Sandy from Llanfyllin Town Council, Ffion Wright-Evans (Montgomery YFC Development Officer) and the Rotary Club of Westbourne.

Ffion said: “Most of us will experience poor mental health from time to time.

"Despite this, there is a huge stigma surrounding mental health in the agricultural sector which is what The DPJ Foundation are working hard to change.

"It has been a privilege for YFC to be involved in organising the Big Inflatable Walk which was a huge success last year, putting smiles on faces at a time when they were needed the most, and we hope to continue to spread joy in the community to raise funds for such an important cause this year.”

Cllr Raymond-Sandy added: “This event has brought so much attention and much needed awareness for our farming community, they are the back bone of this country and with challenging mental health issues on the rise, we wholly support the DPJ Foundation."

The event is being kindly sponsored by The Stumble Inn, The Eagles Chippy and The Halcyon Yoga Company and the Big Inflatable Walk team would like to thank the sponsors for their generous donations.

Registration is open to all over 16 years of age, and the £10 registration fee includes burger and chips at the Eagles Chippy and a drink at the Bistro and the Cain Valley Hotel on arrival in Llanfyllin.

To register, head to www.thebiginflatablewalk.org – payments will be taken on the day. Registrations will take place from 10am at The Stumble Inn car park.
