Welshpool's town council has thanked the public after receiving a 'fantastic' response to a recent photo competition.

The council launched the competition earlier this year ahead of the unveiling of its new web site, which is set to feature some of the winning entries.

Organisers say over 70 entries were received, with the new town council website expected to go live in November.

The council says web designers Gwe Cambrian Web are on the final stages, having completed the design and worked up the content with the Town Council Marketing Officer.

"We have been absolutely delighted with the number and quality of the photos submitted." said Alison Davies, Town Mayor.

"Selecting the winning photos was a hard job, we have tried to find images that are a little different, but also gave a good impression of the Welshpool we all know and love.

"What we have also realised is that, not only do we have great photographers in our midst, but also we need to be able to show Welshpool through the seasons, so we’d like to ring the changes throughout the year."

"The Town Council expects to run future photographic competitions, with the winning entries featured on the website; so keep looking for those great shots!"
