ONE of Ellesmere's most iconic buildings will have new faces running it after a popular Chirk-based business confirmed it has acquired its restaurant.

The Boathouse, on the Mere, will be under the stewardship of Castle Bistro at Courtyard Terrace in Chirk.

Its owners took to social media to confirm that they would be taking on a second restaurant at the building, which is jointly-owned by Shroshire and Ellesmere Town Councils, and are looking forward to the future.

They said: "Rumour has it we are expanding and the rumour is true –The Boathouse in Ellesmere.

"We are delighted to share with you the news that the business is growing in new and exciting ways.

"Today marks the day when we have become the owners of a second restaurant, The Boathouse, nestled in the award-winning park in Ellesmere.

"Overlooking the breathtaking Mere, The Boathouse is surrounded with gardens and woodland on the edge of the market town.

"We are eager to share with you an exciting next chapter in the Boathouse story.

"We look forward to seeing you all soon."

Castle Bistro also confirmed The Boathouse will remain dog-friendly to ensure the many dog walkers around the Mere will be catered for.
