A PRESTIGIOUS male voice choir is coming to a venue outside Oswestry which will host its first live concert in 18 months in November.

The Johns’ Boys Male Chorus, one of the most decorated Welsh choirs in history, will be coming to the Holroyd Community Theatre (HCT), in Weston Rhyn, on Saturday, November 6 (7pm).

The choir, formed in 2016 and already with successes such as BBC Choir of the Year finalists in the same year, will be appearing at the community theatre, with musical director and founder Aled Philips delighted to be doing so.

He said: “This will be our first concert for more than 18 months and all the lads are so looking forward to be back singing to a live audience.

"It will be a pleasure to sing alongside, and with the wonderful Moreton Hall Chamber Choir in what is a super venue.

"An evening not to be missed."

Helen Rayner, creative director of the HCT, added: "We are thrilled to be welcoming one of UK’s most prestigious choirs to the Holroyd.

"We look forward to a spectacular evening of music making."

Johns' Boys already has a decorated history, as in 2019, it became the first Welsh Male Voice Choir and only third male voice choir in the history of the competition to win the prestigious Choir of the World at Llangollen International Eisteddfod.

It was an incredible year for the choir as they also were victorious in Côr Cymru and the National Eisteddfod of Wales.

Tickets are £18 and can be purchased at https://theholroydtheatre.co.uk/events_post_item/johns-boys/
