LLANGOLLEN Railway has shared video and photos as trains returned to the tracks.

At the weekend, diesel engines came back into service.

Despite the rain, services operated all day with passengers enjoying the comfort of the vintage carriage.

The railway posted on Facebook: "Our Diesel fleet will be back in operation this weekend!

"Class 26 D5310 will haul our rare BR mk1 'Suburban' compartment coaches through the Dee Valley between Llangollen and Carrog on Saturday, with Class 47 D1566 operating on Sunday - its first outing of this year.

"Heritage Railcar Class 104 50454 has been paired with Class 108 56223 and will also operate over the weekend, offering a fantastic driver's-eye-view of the line ahead."

The railway shared photos and video by Ryan Hughes and Joe Walker from the weekend.

Steam-hauled services return on October 30 and 31 October, and the first two weekends of November.

The feedback from the weekend was positive.

Stephen Togs Rice posted: "It is great to see you back up and running, I hope to be there soon for the steam trains."
