HUNDREDS of pounds have been raised by a festive-themed group in Chirk at a fashion show event.

The Chirk Christmas Celebrations and Lights Committee organised the show which took place at Chirk Parish Hall on Friday, September 24.

A total of £420 was raised at the event, while money was also raised for Chirk Court Care Home through sales of cakes baked by staff.

Deborah Cooke, who is a member of the committee who helped to organise the show, was pleased to welcome people to the hall for the first organised public event since before the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The event went really well and was well-attended," she said.

"It was really good fun and was lovely to get back to doing things as a group.

"We can hopefully now start planning more things for the future."

Colours Fundraising Fashion Shows ran the event in what was their second visit to Chirk after a fashion show in 2018.

And the evening provided so much fun that the company said it is eager to return to Chirk in the future.

Deborah said: "The organisers were fantastic and said they hadn't laughed so much in a long time.

"They said they're really looking forward to coming back to Chirk again.

"We'd like to thank everybody for supporting us and I hope that they all enjoyed the night.

"We're all really looking forward to more events in the future."
