SCHOOL pupils in West Felton have thanked a local book shop for a 'lovely surprise' after copies of their hero Marcus Rashford's book was delivered to them.

Copies of You Are a Champion: How to Be the Best You Can Be by Manchester United and England star Marcus Rashford were sent to West Felton School by Booka Bookshop in Church Street, Oswestry.

Headteacher Helen Hughes admitted she and her pupils were delighted as the footballer was hugely popular at the school because of his efforts in ensuring poorer students were fed during the holidays.

And she says they use him as an example of being a good citizen to the pupils.

"It was a lovely surprise to come in and find them – we had no indication," said Mrs Hughes.

"I knew that Booka was undergoing a project with the books but I didn't know that we would be the recipient of some of them.

"The kids were absolutely thrilled as they have been following Marcus Rashford a lot.

"We have talked about him a lot because of his work and his advocacy.

"Within school, we have been encouraging the children to learn about action and we have been using Marcus's advocacy as an example of him taking an interest in something he cares about.

"We're looking forward to reading the book.

"We had one copy which had to go around 30 kids but now we've got seven, so we're using it a guided text.

"It's even inspired a few kids who don't normally enjoy reading."
