A former Oswestry travel boss is set to lift the lid on fifty years of globe-trotting experiences with the release of a new book this week.

Ron Morgan, who previously managed Fourwinds Travel in Oswestry and Powys Travel in Welshpool, says 'Morgan the Travel' will tell the tale of a life spent in travel which involves a few brushes with the law, some near death experiences, and being part of a Guinness world record to name but a few.

The book is an autobiographical travel memoir tracing over 50 years of globetrotting, much of the time spent as a tour manager escorting groups of adventurous souls around the world. The anecdotes related reflect the myriad of adventures, cultures and colourful people who have crossed Ron’s path and enriched his knowledge and life.

"The book is packed with travel anecdotes, photographs, historical facts and stories from my varied life in over 50 years of travelling at home and abroad, many of which as a travel industry professional," he said.

"Travelling has changed immeasurably since my introduction to the travel world at the tender age of 17. Being close to death on more than one occasion travelling has enhanced my knowledge and cultural understanding of the world we live in.

"I have learned so much, not least of which about myself, it is fair to say travel has shaped my life. We are so excited and hope you will buy this labour of love and enjoy the story of my life in travel!"

Ron was born in Shrewsbury, England and has lived and worked in the United Kingdom most of his life interspersed with stints in the U.S.A. and Canada.

Ron has travelled extensively, tour managing groups worldwide, and running his own travel company, Ron Morgan Travel until 2001.

Since 1995 Ron and his wife Dianne have also devoted time to the charitable fund they founded, Dreamcatcher Children, which brightens the lives of chronically and terminally ill children and their families.
