OSWESTRY swimmers were among the medal winners at a national open water competition recently.
The Welsh Age Group Open Water Championships and the British Masters Open Water Championships were held at Llandegfedd Lake in Monmouthshire on Saturday, September 4.
Welshpool Sharks swimmers attended the events, including Oswestry-based Dan Hussey and Whittington’s Claudia Savage.
Dan took first place in the British Masters Championships 3km event, while Claudia placed second in the 3km senior.
Head coach Steve Parker was pleased with the performance of the six swimmers in attendance.
He said: “The Sharks have earnt their success with the six regularly swimming at Bala Lake up to three times a week in all conditions preparing for the event.
“I could not be any prouder of them.”
The north Shropshire pair also won the 4km Challenger National Relay alongside Kim Collins and Cari Jones with a 90-second gap between themselves and the second-placed team.
Other Sharks swimmers including Carys Morgan and Richard Healey had a day to remember.
Carys finished second in the 2km Age Group Race, while Cari finished fifth in the 5km Open Age Group race as the youngest competitor.
