THE winner of the 2021 Oswestry in Bloom has been announced with the standard of competition higher than ever, according to organisers.

Betty Gull, chairman of Oswestry in Bloom, was out in the town last week to congratulate the winners and to present a shield to Meraki, in Church Street, the winners of the Best Dressed Window Competition.

Mrs Gull was delighted with the response for the scaled down version of the current competition with Margaret Thrower again judging.

All-in-all, Ms Thrower judged 68 businesses and residential properties and they all received certificates for their hard work.

Mrs Gull said: "The standard of the entries was extremely high and I thank everyone for keeping Oswestry looking so beautiful."

Categories this year included Best Bedded Out Front Garden; Best All Year Colour Front Garden; Best Evergreen Front Garden; Best Small Front Garden; Best Front Bijou Front Garden and Best Dressed Window in the Town Centre.

In addition, Oswestry in Bloom worked with The Advertizer and invited votes for a People’s Choice Award in the Best Dressed Window Category and the winner was Hobo Floral Design.

Special thanks were extended to all the below businesses that made such an effort with their window displays included Meraki Colour, Hobo Floral Design, Shlurp (Forever Yours), Nikki’s Boutique, Cornerstone Baptist Church, Morris Cook, Park Gate Florist, Out of Town and Willow Street Dental Practice.
