POLICE have charged a man with manslaughter after the death of a pensioner in St Martins on Wednesday.
West Mercia Police confirmed the charge on Saturday after the 31-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday after the incident in Oak Drive.
He was also charged with taking a vehicle without consent, while he remains in custody and will appear in court.
A spokesman said: "A man has been charged after an investigation was launched into the death of an 80 year old man in St Martins, Shropshire.
"The 80-year-old man suffered an injury at an address in Oak Drive in St Martins on Monday, September 6.
"He was taken to hospital on Tuesday, September 7 and on Wednesday 8 September police were informed he had sadly died.
"A 31-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter and taking a vehicle without consent. He has been remanded in custody to appear at court."
The man's death has left St Martins in shock, with a police presence in the village for much of the week.
Police had previously stated they believed the incident was a one-off.
