A POWYS woman had one of her teeth knocked out when she was punched in the mouth by her knife-wielding neighbour.

The woman was assaulted by Ronald Inman, who was Tasered during the ugly incident in Llanfyllin in the early hours of March 18 this year.

Inman, 37 was also found to be in possession of a number of knives. The incident was so serious that the Joint Firearms Unit (JFU) was called in to assist Dyfed Powys Police officers in arresting Inman.

Appearing at Welshpool Magistrates Court on Tuesday, September 7, Inman, now of Nyland Road, Liverpool, admitted charges of affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and had his case sent to the crown court for sentencing.

Prosecutor Justin Espie said the victim was assaulted by Inman after trying to assist following a disturbance at his property.

“The defendant is being realistic and concedes his case will be committed to the crown court,” said Mr Espie.

“The defendant assaulted his neighbour who had entered his property trying to assist people following a disturbance. He punched her to the mouth, resulting in the loss of a tooth and causing permanent damage.

“Multiple weapons were utilised and brandished by the defendant during the incident, which took place in front of children, who were terrified by his behaviour.”

Acting for Inman, Owain Jones said there were aggravating features, but also mitigating features. He requested a pre-sentence report be prepared on his client ahead of the sentencing hearing.

Magistrates committed the case to Mold Crown Court for sentencing on September 30.

Dyfed Powys Police initially reported that they had arrested a 37-year-old man at 12.40am on March 18 after he had reportedly assaulted a female member of the public and was found to be in possession of a knife. The JFU later said the man was found in possession of several knives.

“A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm, following an incident in north Powys in the early hours of this morning,” Dyfed Powys Police said in a statement released at the time.

“Police were called to a disturbance at a property in Llanfyllin just after 12.20am this morning.

“A man was reported to have assaulted a female member of the public, and was found in possession of a knife.

“A Taser was discharged, and the man detained and arrested by 12.40am and taken to custody.”
