THE England captain who broke Australia's 18-year hold on the Ashes is coming to Oswestry Cricket Club next month.

Michael Vaughan, once the number one-rated batsman in the world, was the mastermind behind England's famous victory against the old enemy in 2005.

Now a commentator for the BBC's iconic Test Match Special (TMS), as well as the corporation's TV highlights, he will be coming to Morda Road on Friday, October 15 for a night of anecdotes.

Organiser Mark Ball is hoping cricketing royalty will entice fans down to the clubhouse for a night of informative cricket insight.

He said: "This event will sell out so if you would like to buy a ticket please do so quickly.

"It's sure to be a great night as Michael is known for his forthright views.

"The cost of a ticket is £25 but this does include your first drink (pint/wine/short and mixer) within the price.

"Food will be available courtesy of Lepone's mobile pizza hut and the small bar opens at 5pm while the function room bar will open at 7pm for ticket holders."

To buy a ticket, call 07702 895 428 or email letsliveracing@aol.com

The evening starts at 7pm.
