THERE was a pantomime in summertime last weekend as a popular Oswestry theatre group returned to performing.

The Attfield Theatre, which is usually based in the Guildhall, gave two free performances of its summer panto version of Toad of Toad Hall in Cae Glas Park on Sunday, August 15.

A spokesman for the group admitted it was delighted to be back performing and thoroughly enjoyed putting on the show for the crowd.

They said: "Despite an initial shower, the weather stayed fine and a sizeable crowd turned out to enjoy the antics of Toad, Badger, Ratty, Mole and friends finally getting the better of their adversaries – the Weasels.

Border Counties Advertizer:

"To add to the fun, they also had a traditional 'panto Dame', as Mr Toad’s Washerwoman.

"A terrific performance by all cast and crew, much enjoyed by the audience of all ages, who laughed, cheered, booed an all the right places and joined in the finale song with gusto."

The Attfield Theatre has remained closed because of Covid since March 2020, but is set to reopen in December with a production of Wild Goose Chase.
