LIFE was tough in the Tanat Valley in 1947 as demonstrated by this picture of Fred and George Owen putting a rim on a wheel.

However a few years later the villagers of Llanrhaeadr had sufficient recreation time to open a tennis court which was officially opened to the public in 1952.

We also share some wonderful pictures of the past at Gobowen Orthopaedic Hospital.

First we see the golden wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Edward Roger which was marked in 1954.

Finally we see a patient convalescing at the hospital receiving a visit from a pet lamb in 1954.
