A POPULAR group in Oswestry which focuses on film is set to return with its first full season in two years.

Oswestry Film Society’s new season starts on September 7 with eight great films to tempt you back to the cinema.

The Society, which was founded in 2015, was last able to run a full season in 2019, but is back with a selection of fantastic films, and to reassure customers there will still be some social distancing with a one seat gap between groups.

The society are hoping that both old and new customers who have so far stayed away will be reassured on their return.

Films will be screened on the first and third Tuesday of the month from September to December, and the season starts with a 20th anniversary screening of the musical romance Moulin Rouge starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, just made for the big screen.

Michael Hudson, from the society, said: “We are so excited to be back with a full season of films, ranging from acclaimed dramas such as Richard Jewell to brilliant world cinema including Icelandic thriller The County.

"There’s a strong emphasis of women in leading roles with Eva Green preparing for space in Proxima and Alfre Woodward in the stunning death row drama Clemency.

"To lighten the mood we have an early Wes Anderson film Rushmore and the unusual dream home mystery Vivarium.

"Our always popular surprise Christmas film makes a late December appearance too.”

Tickets are £5-6 and you can find more information about the new season, watch trailers and buy tickets at www.oswestryfilmsociety.com
