A THRILLING match is expected when the Graham Edwards Memorial Trophy reaches its conclusion on Sunday.
Following this week's semi-finals it has been confirmed that Gobowen Celtic will take on Morda FC at the Gobowen Playing Fields on Sunday, August 1.
Kick-off is a 3pm.
Writing on the event's Facebook page, Wayn Martayn said the semi-final clash held on Thursday night between Gobowen and St Martins side The Keys "could have gone either way" but "a strong performance" from Celtic saw them through 5-1.
On Tuesday evening, TNS Under-19s had taken on Morda FC in the other semi-final.
The young team had gone 2-0 up but they could not match the experience of Morda who came back to take it to penalties which they won 6-5.
The Graham Edwards Memorial Trophy was set up in 1975 after Graham, a promising young footballer, sadly lost his life to leukaemia.
Local teams compete for the trophy every year – bar 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic – raising much needed funds for Leukaemia Research and have now raised over £150,000 to date.
So far this year's event has raised a further £1,736.
