A BUSY road near Chirk will be affected by multiple closures at the beginning of next month.

The A483 stretch between Ruabon and Halton Roundabout, and the stretch between Halton and Gledrid Roundabout, will be closed for a day each on August 4 and 5, respectively to allow for general repairs and work on the grass verges.

Councillor David A. Bithell, lead member for the environment and transport, has reminded motorists to allow more time for journeys during the closures.

He said: “During the summer we come under huge pressure to keep the verges and roundabouts clear, but we have to be mindful of the ecological value of each verge and roundabout.

“This is why we only cut them when we are certain the wildlife has had the full benefit from the seasonal growth.

“The works will cause some disruption to motorists, and we ask drivers to plan more time into their journey to allow for this.”

A spokesman for Wrexham County Borough Council confirmed on Thursday that the road closures will be in place overnight, between 7.30pm and 6am the following morning.

All the works that will take place in August are as follows:

August 2 – Junction 3 Croesfoel Interchange to Junction 2 Johnstown Interchange (lane one. Including Junction 3 southbound on slip/Junction 3 northbound off slip/Junction 2 southbound off slip/Junction 2 northbound on slip)
