NORTH Shropshire has yet again been placed under yellow weather warning for thunderstorms from Tuesday until Wednesday morning.

While the heavy rains forecast for Saturday and Sunday failed to materialise, the Met Office remains confident that the heavy weather will arrive – and now says it will come over the next 48 hours.

Britain’s weather watchers have put in place a new day-long yellow warning for storms across much of northern UK and the Midlands.

The yellow warning is in place around north Shropshire from 9am on Tuesday until 6am on Wednesday.

A spokesman said: "Thunderstorms and heavy rain may lead to flooding and transport disruption.

"Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and possibly some road closures

"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services

"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater or lightning strikes."
