THE headteacher of Oswestry Marches School says she is looking forward to plans for a new fitness suite and administration centre coming to fruition.
The school, in Morda Road, has received planning permission for the new buildings and will be working with Oswestry-based DPA Design, is part of the Marches Academy Trust, led by Sarah Finch, its chief executive officer.
Alison Pearson is the head at the school and she says the new buildings add to what is an exciting time for The Marches and its parent Trust.
She said: "This is an exciting time and we are delighted to bring study further space and learning environments to the school, for the students of the community that we serve, to enjoy and benefit from.
"We are looking forward to seeing these plans become a reality over the next year.
"It will be great for our growing Sixth Form to expand into a space that they really deserve and the fitness suite and sprung dance studio is going to be such a good enhancement to the curriculum and enrichment offer here."
The school is planning a new modern administrative building to facilitate the relocation of the school’s administration and Alliance of Leading Learning functions to free up space within the Arthur Walpole Building and enable the expansion of Sixth Form facilities.
The proposal will become a central hub/focal point for students, teachers and parents coming into the school.
The new building aims to be iconic and a welcome sight off Morda Road which will also provide some additional parking for visitors and staff.
The work will also provide a new modern fitness suite and dance studio to widen the curriculum and enrichment offer.
A DPA Design spokesman said: "We are delighted that full planning permission has recently been granted for a new Administration Centre and a Fitness Suite at The Marches School.
"Our relationship with The Marches School continues with the design and planning approval of two individual schemes that bring both functionality and contemporary facelifts to the Academy."
