WE MAY have spent the past few days basking in a heatwave, but if the weather forecasters are right, rain is on the way.
So we decided to put together a list of some of our favourite indoor attractions in and around Oswestry for when spending time outdoors is off the table.
1. Oswestry Leisure Centre
Featuring a big pool for older children, or the learner pool for the little ones, there's plenty of opportunity to have fun, build confidence and get fit. The centre hosts family splash centres and according to the website, has a wave machine too.
Shrewsbury Road, Oswestry
Open Monday to Thursday 6.30am-10pm; Friday 6.30am-9pm Friday; Saturday and Sunday 8am-5pm.
Prices: Under-3s free; £3.55 four to 15-year-olds; £5.45 16+.
Booking essential.
2. Fantastic Funhouse
With three play frames of adventure, separate areas for toddles, plus indoor sports areas, there really is something for everyone – and let's not forget a spacious seating area and two coffee shops for the parents.
Gobowen Road, Oswestry
Open Monday to Sunday 9.30am-6.30pm.
Prices: Under-1s free; £4.50 per play session.
3. Oswestry Town Museum (age 4+)
Take a trip down memory lane and learn more about the rich history of Oswestry and its surrounding areas. The museum is full of interesting exhibits brought to life by the informative volunteers who run it.
Bailey Head, Oswestry
Open Wednesday and Friday 10am-4pm; Saturday 10am-3.30pm.
Prices: Free
4. Black Hawk (age 7+)
If you're feeling adventurous why not head to Black Hawk at The Venue in Park Hall for a game of laser tag? You aren't knocked out of the game in a single shot so there's plenty of opportunity to take out your opponents.
The Venue, Park Hall
Open Monday to Saturday 9am-9pm; Sunday 10am-6pm.
Prices: £4.99 per person
5. Chirk Castle
Another one for fans of history, but with plenty of family fun thrown in too at this 700-year-old fortress. Check out the famous dungeon, try on costumes and if the sun does come out there's 450-acres of parkland to explore.
Opening times vary - please see website for details.
Prices: £7 child, £14 adult; £35 family.
Booking essential during holidays.
