A MAN has been arrested after reports of a knifepoint moped robbery in Oswestry this week.

Posts on social emerged on social media this morning (Thursday, July 21) claiming that the vehicle had been taken by somebody with a knife.

West Mercia Police have now confirmed that one person has been arrested in connection with the incident, which took place in Beatrice Street at about 9pm on Wednesday.

However, the force have yet to confirm that a knife was used in the robbery.

The moped was subsequently found on Thursday, July 21.

A spokesman for WMP said: “Police have received a report that on Wednesday, July 21 at around 9pm, a white moped was stolen during a robbery at Beatrice Street, Oswestry.

“The stolen moped was subsequently located and on Thursday, July 22, a man in his 30s from Oswestry was arrested on suspicion of robbery. He is currently in police custody.”
