FRON Male Voice Choir members recently had a 'Ball' with a well-known face from the music industry.

Being based in a UNESCO World Heritage site brings many advantages for the choir.

Visitors to the area often visit their rehearsal rooms to hear a Welsh male voice choir rehearse, and it is not unknown for media companies from around the world to turn up to record them.

Of course, the pandemic stopped them rehearsing, and the number of visitors to the area has dramatically reduced. But, TV and radio companies have continued to visit the area as social distancing rules suspended the production of soaps and dramas.

In April, Wildflame productions contacted the choir with details of a four-programme TV series where Michael Ball travels from South to North Wales visiting places of interest.

Each programme would end with Michael singing with a local choir.

Michael and the Fron Male Voice Choir went on to sing together in the grounds of Erddig Hall.

The series - Michael Ball’s Wonderful Wales - started Friday, July 9 and the programme with Michael and the Fron Male Voice Choir singing together will air on Channel 5 at 8pm on Friday July 30.

Choir chair David T Jones said: "Since returning to rehearsals, we have recruited two new choristers. Despite the upheaval of the past 14 months, the future is looking bright for the Fron."
