IF YOU feel like you should be on holiday abroad the last few days then you're not wrong.

Shropshire's heatwave has seen the county rack up scorching temperatures that are on a par with some of the UK's favourite holiday destinations this last week.

And things aren't set to change just yet with the mercury in Oswestry set to hit 28°C today (Wednesday) and 29°C tomorrow.

Despite the easing of Covid-19 restrictions on Monday on what has been dubbed 'Freedom Day', on-going international travel restrictions mean many places are still not on the green list and holidaymakers cannot visit them.

But who needs Spain when you have sunny Oswestry?

Weather reports from the region shows Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria are a cool 26°C today, while the south of France is only a touch warmer at 27°C.

But sadly the hot weather isn't set to last much long with thunderstorms forecast for Thursday afternoon before temperatures fall to 25°C in Oswestry on Friday.

And a yellow weather warning for heavy rain and thundery showers has also been issued for the region on Saturday and Sunday which may lead to flooding and transport disruption in some places.
