STUDENTS at Gobowen’s Derwen College have been getting into the spirit of the Euros ahead of the final between England and Italy on Sunday.

Retail and Enterprise students, at the further education college for young adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), created badges, posters and themed accessories to mark the historic fixture.

Students working in the college’s on-site Karten print shop designed and created themed party accessories for students across the college to celebrate England’s biggest match in 55 years.

Retail and Enterprise pathway lead, Jane Carrington, was pleased to see the excitement among students ahead of the match.

She said: “It’s been brilliant to see our students joining the rest of the country in the excitement surrounding the Euros.

“We’re lucky to have an onsite print shop where students are able to use industry-standard equipment to create badges, posters, banners and other professional-quality marketing materials.

“Students designed badges and posters to deliver to all the residences of all our residential students, and for day students to take home.”

The students’ excitement was shared with fans in London as a picture of the retail students appeared on the big screen at the UEFA 2020 Fan Zone.

The image of students Anais and Mia, who enjoy work experience in Karten Print Shop, was spotted on social media platform Twitter and given star status as one of a series of #EURO2020HEROs.

Jane added: “We were really excited to see our students appear on the Fan Zone screen in London, and look forward to seeing all the photos of students celebrating this historic win on Sunday.”
