CHIRK Cricket Club has confirmed its weekend fixture has been rearranged after a Covid-19 outbreak.

Six players for the Shropshire County Cricket League side have tested positive for the virus, and are said to be ‘doing ok at the moment’.

The side was set to face Bomere Heath on Saturday as they looked to build on a strong start to the season which has put them in third place in the Division One table.

A spokesman posted on the Chirk Cricket Club Twitter page: “Due to a covid outbreak, our first team game is cancelled tomorrow vs @BomereHeathCC.

“Six lads that are isolating are all doing okay at the moment.

“Thankfully they have agreed to rearrange the fixture so working on that in the coming days.”
