AN OSWESTRY teenager has put out an appeal to find the Good Samaritans she says protected her after her car broke down during heavy traffic on the A5 last week.

Maisie Watkin, 18, was driving her black Vauxhall Corsa from the Whittington to Gobowen roundabout on Wednesday, June 9 when it came to a spluttering halt.

And while panic initially set in as she struggled to think what to do, Maisie said a couple came to her aid and thanked them for their calm kindness as she was able to call a family member for help.

"I was out driving and my mum was about four cars behind me," said Maisie.

"I was approaching the Gobowen roundabout, and I was changing gears, I felt the car really slowing down like I'd stalled but it wouldn't start again.

"It was where everyone goes into two lanes, headed towards Wrexham.

"It was an absolute nightmare as I was right in the middle of the two lanes and I couldn't get out or do anything – it was awful.

"I've only been driving for a year and it was so scary.

“The car wouldn't start at all, I was trying again but it wasn't even ticking over.

"I stayed there for about two minutes thinking what on Earth am I going to do, but I was too scared to get out because of where I was and everyone was driving really fast.

"I had my hazards on but this lovely couple stopped in front of me and came to the car.

"They were speaking to me through the car and through the window and just calming me down, told me what they were going to do and came up with a plan of action.

"They pushed me from behind, which was in the middle of a bypass so very dangerous but they moved me to the side, waited until I called a family member and they went on their way."

Maisie described the couple as being around 30 years of age, describing the male as having dark hair and the woman as being slim with blonde/ginger hair.

They were driving a 69 plate Peugeot car, and Maisie added that she just wants them to come forward so she can thank them.

She added: "Looking back, I honestly don't what I'd have done without them.

"I rang the RAC and the police who told me to get myself and car to safety, and I wouldn't have been able to do that on my own.

"I was in a really dangerous situation and without their help, I dread to think what would have happened.

"I just want to thank them and let know what their act of kindness did for my day – it helped me keep on driving and restored my faith in humanity."
