THE MP for Chirk and the Ceiriog Valley is urging businesses in his constituency to apply for further Covid-19 funding if they are eligible to do so.

Simon Baynes MP, is encouraging local businesses in the hospitality, tourism and leisure sectors to apply for the funding through the Economic Resilience Fund.

Wrexham and Denbighshire Councils will help administer the Welsh Government funds for businesses impacted during Alert Level Two restrictions.

Mr Baynes wants businesses to push for the extra financial support in order to boost the local economy.

He said: “I urge all eligible businesses in Wrexham and Denbighshire to apply for this funding. It’s so important that this support is grasped so that we can protect jobs and livelihoods in both counties.

“I would also ask residents in Clwyd South to take every opportunity to support our local businesses during this difficult and turbulent time as they have been impacted by months of restrictions.

“This will help ensure that the financial support given reaches its full potential for the benefit of the local economy.”

Eligible businesses include; events and conference venues; business unable to open indoors between May 1 and May 17 and who experienced a drop in turnover; hospitality trading under Alert Level Two conditions from May 17 to June 30; and supply chain and related business with material impact on turnover.

Businesses with a turnover greater than £85,000 can apply through the Welsh Government’s Business Wales platform, while those with a turnover less than £85,000 can apply through the Council.
