SPORTS clubs in need of support in Oswestry and the surrounding area have less than a week remaining to apply for grant funding from a local group.

The Oswestry Sports Forum is offering grants to clubs and individuals who live or train within 10 miles of Oswestry.

This includes those in areas such as St Martins, Ellesmere and Baschurch.

Applications may be made for help with coaching, training equipment, competition or league fees, facility/premises improvements etc.

The last round of grants in February saw successful applications from two individuals and four clubs.

Croesoswallt Archers were awarded £250 towards beginners bows to allow the club to welcome new members.

Cae Glas Cricket Club received £250 towards Kwik Cricket sets to use with Woodside pupils.

CrossFit Oswestry won £250 towards the coach training fees and Shropshire Sailing Club won a £250 contribution to buy a keel boat, suitable for sailors with disabilities, which will help the club to become a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Sailability Centre.

The closing date for the next round of grants from Oswestry Sports Forum is on Monday, June 7 and grants will be decided on Thursday, July 1.

Application forms can be downloaded from www.oswestrysportsforum.org.uk or by contacting Susie@oswestrygames.co.uk
