AN MP’s grand Llanfyllin home is up for sale for a huge £2.6million.
Simon Baynes MP, who holds the Clwyd South seat, is looking to offload his stunning property, Bodfach Hall – a 13-bedroom Georgian Grade II-listed residence surrounded by more than 80 acres of land.
The property, which is listed with Mark Wiggin Estate Agents of Ludlow, hosts the popular annual Llanfyllin Show.
Mr Baynes and his wife Maggie purchased the property in 2007. The 83-acre plot features formal and informal gardens, woodland, an orchard, paddocks, parkland, a lake and river.
The property is described as an impressive, historic country house by the estate agent.
Its brochure for the home reads: “Bodfach Hall is an outstanding principally Georgian Grade II listed country house standing in beautiful gardens, with magnificent woodland and rolling parkland through which flows the River Cain.
“There are two cottages and a stunning coach house, also with potential accommodation. Now a much-loved family home, Bodfach Hall was a highly regarded bespoke hotel for many years after the war and with its size and scope could be so again.
“The house is situated in the Cain Valley in the glorious Welsh Marches, close to the Shropshire border.
“The house is approached by a long driveway crossing the River Cain and passing through the rolling parkland, laid out in the Georgian era and now complemented by a recent planting scheme of over 100 native hardwood trees but including some ancient oak trees.
“It enters the gardens before drawing up to a parking area to the front of the house.
The gardens are listed Grade II and are distinctive with impressive mature specimen trees, rhododendrons, and sweeping lawns.”
