SHROPSHIRE Council has launched a consultation into improving parking in a number of streets around Baschurch.

The consultation, which runs from May 20 (today) to Thursday, June 10, is aimed at improving road safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists in the village, between Oswestry and Shrewsbury.

A council spokesman said: "The proposed parking restrictions are intended to address road safety and parking issues by preserving visibility, providing an improved flow of traffic and safer access for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists wishing to use the amenities of the area and roads at the locations named (within the consultation)."

The consultation is looking at the B5067 Shrewsbury Road, Church Road, Eyton Lane, Kings Road North, and the western access to The Corbet School coach parking area in Baschurch.

Specifically, it is proposing no waiting at any time in Shrewsbury Road for a distance of 144 metres southbound from the junction with Station Road; for 11 metres in Church Road heading west; for 10 metres eastbound in Eyton Lane and for nine metres northbound at the western access for Corbet School.
