TWO popular market events will be back in Oswestry in the coming weeks as lockdown restrictions continue to loosen across the UK.

The town's annual Gardening and Artisan Market will be held on the Bailey Head on Friday, May 28, while the town's first Charity Market of 2021 will be on Friday, June 4.

David Clough, retail markets and events manager at Oswestry Town Council, explained how the two days will be structured, and hopes to see people supporting them.

He said: "The gardening event will be held on the Bailey Head where a number of interesting plant sellers will be located plus interactive plant stands managed by the Wildlife Trust and the local Allotment Group.

"Not only will there by interesting plants to purchase but there will be plenty of gardening advice available if needed.

"At the same time come and explore our excellent monthly Artisan Market where you will find fresh pork pies, cheeses, homemade fudge, delicious cakes and plenty more.

"On June 4, Oswestry Markets will be holding our annual Charity Market where local charities are invited to have a stall free of charge to raise awareness and provide expert advice on a number of important issues or to raise much needed funds for their charity.
