ONE of the stars of a BBC One show popular among dog-lovers is coming to Llanfyllin.

Colin Taylor, judge and world grooming celebrity on Pooch Perfect, will be in Bwlch-y-Cibau for an event organised by Llanfyllin-based dog-grooming business, Woofterz Dog Grooming.

Mr Taylor, who is a judge on the show and attended the London Academy of Grooming, is embarking on a tour of the UK to share with others in the grooming industry some of his best tips and tricks he has learnt during his 35-year career.

The event is organised by Woofterz Dog Grooming owner, Julian Raymond-Sandy, and Debbie Noah, of Wrexham-based Dazzles Dog Grooming Training.

Julian, who is also a councillor in Llanfyllin, said it is an honour to be welcoming such a high-profile guest to the area.

He said: “We don't have many seminars in Wales and the English borders and to have his expertise and knowledge is a real privilege.

“It will enable us to enhance our industry. I started grooming over three years ago and met Colin at Crufts in 2017 – we have remained good friends since.

“When I heard Colin was on tour, I rang him straight away. We can't wait to welcome him to our village as we just don't get this kind of opportunity in our area.”

There are 50 tickets up for grabs for the event, which is aimed at dog groomers looking to hone their skills.

Tickets went on sale last week, with many selling in a matter of hours and some buyers from as far away as Bournemouth.

Speaking about his tour, Mr Taylor said: “I know what it’s like to be either starting out as a groomer who just needs that little pick me up and refresh with some inspiration.

“Well, I’m here, listening and ready to go. I want you to come and learn, but also have a giggle while meeting new and maybe reconnecting with old friends.

“My aim is to not wow you with what may seem impossible, but rather teach you real everyday tips that you can take home and put in practice.

“You will learn loads, but it will be bite size chunks, so you won’t forget.”

Georgia Ashton-Fuller who was a contestant on "Pooch Perfect" and a finalist from South Wales is also making an appearance selling her doggie frills on the day.

The seminar will take place at the Institute in Bwlch-y-Cibau on Saturday, August 8, from 9.30am to 3.30pm.

Tickets cost £105 which includes a networking lunch at The Stumble Inn, Bwlch-y-Cibau.

There will also be stalls including dog-themed goods on the day, including; Sharpology Sharpening Service, Wyvern Wax, Wooftaz Doggie Colognes, Funky Pink Poodle Deli Delights for Dogs and Fullers Frills.
