WITH lockdown restrictions easing, a popular event is making its first return to Oswestry for 2021.

The Oswestry Toy and Train Sale – which usually runs three times a year – will be at the Pavillion, at the Showground, on Saturday, running from 10.30am until 3pm.

Organiser Chris Dyer says he and his fellow collectors are looking forward to returning to what is a popular destination and a site that will allow for plenty of space.

He said: "It has now been running each March, July and October for more than 15 years but because of Covid-19, we have been unable to operate here since October 2019.

"This event is actually an extra event to help to make up for the lost one in March 2021 but we will also be back again soon with the next Oswestry show on Saturday, June 26 and with a third one in October.

“Our venue in Oswestry is ideal, being large and spacious and very easily accessed from all areas.

“It also offers almost unlimited free car parking on the site and with level and easy access into the hall.

"We also have the attendance of a first-class local caterer offering great fare at very fair prices.

"In order to meet current safety standards and social distancing requirements we shall be using two halls in place of the usual single building."

A wide range of models and trains, old and new, will be on offer on the day, spread across more than 80 tables with such famous names as Dinky, Corgi, Matchbox, Tri-ang, Hornby, Wrenn, Lima, Bachmann and many, many more being available.

Stallholders will be keen to buy and to swap in addition to selling and visitors are urged to bring their surplus items along, even if only for a free valuation.

Chris added: “There is always a happy and special atmosphere at the Oswestry event and while it is laid back and non-pressurised, some serious trading takes place here."
