A CHIRK milk delivery company is celebrating 60 years of business this month, and has launched a new, commemorative milk bottle to mark the occasion.

Edwards Dairies, based in Black Park, are marking six decades in business with the bottle, which is currently out in circulation and being delivered to customers.

The bottles also signify the focus of the business to reduce single-use plastic, which has been one of its main goals over the past three years.

Louis Edwards-Jones, of the business, gave a special mention to the customers and team of workers at the business for their help and support over the years.

He said: “We would like to thank all our customers new and old for all their continued support, Edwards Dairies was started back in 1961 by my grandad Winston who sadly is no longer with us but I’m sure would be very happy and proud to see the company and some of his original customers still going strong.

“Dad and I cant explain how overwhelmed we are by the support we get from our customers and staff and without either of them we wouldn’t be the family business we are today.

“Here’s to another 60 years!”

During lockdown, the family-run business delivered a wide range of products, including fresh milk, cream, eggs, yoghurts, cheese, fizzy pop, local meats and fresh fruit and vegetables, to doorsteps, retailers and wholesalers.

Louis’ grandad Winston set up the business, which is now run by Louis and his dad Martin.

Some customers have been supporting the business since it was first set up, which Louis says is amazing to see.

“To see customers old and new still coming to us is very nice,” he said.

“We’re massively grateful for that – it goes without saying that the support from our customers is fantastic.

“We’re overwhelmed with the support we get, not only from the customers, but from our staff too. Our customers and team make Edwards Dairies what it is.”
