THE Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire has paid tribute to the team at the Vaccination Centre at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH), following a virtual visit of the site.

During the online visit, Anna Turner spoke to the centre’s staff and volunteers, praising the work done by all of the team in delivering thousands of vaccinations to patients from across the county since the centre opened back in January.

Mrs Turner spent time hearing how the centre runs from a number of RJAH colleagues, including Mark Brandreth, RJAH chief executive; Rebecca Warren, clinical lead nurse; Karin Evans, vaccinator; Lee Osborne; lead project manager for the vaccination centre, among others.

The visit was organised by Victoria Sugden, League of Friends charity director.

Praising the team, Mrs Turner said: “It was an absolute pleasure to meet some of the wonderful team at the RJAH Vaccination Centre, albeit virtually.

“I would like to thank each and every member of the team on behalf of Her Majesty and of the many you have vaccinated in Shropshire who are so grateful to be protected against the dangers of Covid-19.

“The staff and volunteers have shown such resilience, working with the ever changing Government guidelines, they have adapted as and when needed.

"The team have shown such courage in facing the dangers and have earned the respect of so many.

“Both the staff and volunteers are delivering a game changer with determination and focus, which will help us get back to our normal lives and be with the people we love so dearly, again.”

Mr Brandreth added: “It was our pleasure to share and showcase all of the hard work the team have been putting into the vaccination programme for the people of Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin to the Lord-Lieutenant.

“It was fantastic to not only hear her praise the efforts of everyone involved with working at our centre but also to tell her of the fantastic work and the wonderful feedback we’ve been receiving, since we opened back in January.

“A big thank you to Mrs Turner for taking the time to pay the team a visit, it really gave everyone a much-needed lift at this time.”
