CHIRK played host to the launch of the Welsh Conservatives election manifesto this week.

Simon Baynes, who is MP for Clywd South – which includes Chirk as part of his constituency – was joined by Secretary of State for Wales Simon Hart as well as Senedd candidate Barbara Hughes.

Mr Baynes, Mr Hart and Mrs Hughes visited a number of different businesses, including Castle Bistro where they met the owner, Reza Noori; the Hand Hotel with owner, Paul Rodgers; Jamie Ward’s Traditional Family Butchers; M.G. Hughes Fruit & Veg and Manford’s Little Lambs with the owner, Vicki Mitchell.

Mr Baynes admitted he was delighted for some VIP support in launching the manifesto.

He said: “It was a great pleasure to be joined by the Secretary of State for Wales yesterday in Chirk.

"And to have the opportunity to show him some of excellent Clwyd South local businesses, many of whom have gone above and beyond during the Covid crisis to meet the needs of customers and give back to the community.

"I am always proud to showcase our first-class businesses to government ministers and will continue to champion their priorities in Parliament as we build back better from the pandemic.”
