A WELSH rugby legend will be in St Martins for an ‘An Evening With’ event later this year.

Former Ospreys, Wales and British & Irish Lions winger, Shane Williams, will be at The Stute this September to share stories from his illustrious career with more than 150 guests.

The event is organised by Mike Williams of Dragon Promotions, who is known for bringing high profile guests to North Wales and north Shropshire including Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Leonard and Joe Calzaghe.

This will be the first event organised by Mike in 10 years, and he is looking forward to welcoming such a big name to the area.

He said: “I am excited to welcome somebody of Shane’s stature to the area.

“To a Welshman and to a rugby fan, it doesn’t get much bigger than Shane.

“I haven’t done an event for 10 years, so it’s one I’m really looking forward to.

“It’s a big deal to have him coming to St Martins to share his stories from a great career. If you’re a rugby fan, you should definitely be coming along to listen.”

Shane Williams represented Wales on 87 occasions, and is the country’s leading try scorer with 58.

He won the World Rugby Player of the Year in 2008 and is widely-regarded as one of the country’s best ever rugby players.

In 2016, he was inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame.

There is also a guest to be confirmed for the event, as well as a comedian.

The dress code is smart casual, and a ticket costing £45 includes a personal photograph with the rugby star which will be printed on the night.

The event, which is sponsored by Welshpool-based companies SWG Construction and Dark Harbour Tattoo Studio, will take place on September 4. Doors will open at 7pm.

Tickets are set to go on sale from Tuesday, April 20.
