A PLANNING application for 20 new apartments to be built in Llanymynech has been submitted.

The applicant is seeking approval for the change of use and minor extensions to a previously approved application for Unity House, Llandrinio.

Planning was approved for a nursing home at the site in 2008, but the building has remained unoccupied ever since.

Applicant Charanjit Singh wants approval for change of use to form 15 one-bedroom apartments, two two-bedroom apartments and three studio apartments.

Plans also include associated parking for 27 vehicles together with amenity space.

The planning statement confirms affordable housing will be included in the development.

Planning permission for a nursing home at the site was granted in May 2008 and building work began shortly afterwards.

However, it later became apparent the nursing home would be unviable and works stopped.
