THE MP for north Shropshire said he is ‘delighted’ to see businesses in his constituency have received money from a government grants scheme.
Owen Paterson MP said it is pleasing to see the Cambrian Heritage Railway, Media Active Arts, Oswestry Town Museum, Whittington Castle and Tanat Valley Light Railway project are to receive short of £80,000 between them.
The money is being provided by the government’s Culture Recovery Fund which aims to help businesses after a difficult year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mr Paterson said he hopes the money can help businesses after the difficult period.
He said: “It has been an extraordinarily difficult time for all sorts of bodies providing cultural activity and entertainment.
“I’m really pleased the government has recognised that and we have managed to direct some to these organisations in north Shropshire.
“The railway would be a big attraction to the town long-term, but this money is mainly to see these projects and attractions through this difficult period, and I hope it does that.”
