FIRE crews from all over north and central Shropshire were called to a barn fire in Clive in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Shropshire firefighters from crews from Wem, Oswestry, Baschurch, Shrewsbury and Wellington were called to the fire at Hope Farmhouse in Clive – between Wem and Shrewsbury – around 4.50am.

Seven fire appliances including the light pumping unit and the water carrier were called to the scene as crews took around 50 minutes to get the fire under control in the barn which was around 50 metres by 80 metres.

Those on the scene used four breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets and a positive pressure ventilation fan to help extinguish the blaze around 5.40am.
