CHILDREN at Bryn Offa CofE Primary School in Pant have been showing off their best snaps in a school competition.

In a year which has been hard to do normal fundraising activities, the school's Parent Teacher Association (PTA) believed a photography competition was the perfect way to raise money.

It was hoped the competition would encourage the children to get outside to appreciate all the things they can still do, as well as everything they have got to look forward to.

Photography was also talked about at the school, during the recent mental health week, as a way to relax and enjoy their surroundings.

There were three categories; Family and Pets, Things I Love and Light at the end of the tunnel.

The PTA were impressed by the quality of the entries and it was a tough job for the judges, head teacher Paul Thompson and deputy head Gareth Jones.

Mr Thompson said he was delighted by the entries, saying: "I was impressed by the standard of photos and it was hard to pick the winners."

Eliza Duffy, Nia Counsell, Ava Russel, Georgie Evans, Victoria Kato, Rhys Derwas, Bo Nicholls, Neve Kerrison-Jones, Oliver Smith, Bonnie Creaser, Alice Morris, Ollie Dulson, Louis Heard and Pip Stephenson were declared winners, with Bo Nichols and Rhys Derwas named as overall winners.

The winners were presented with their prizes during a virtual assembly on the last day of the spring term.

All of the prizes were kindly donated by the Spar at Chirk, organised by Matt Lee.

The competition raised £120, which is going towards a new playhouse that will hopefully be installed over the Easter holidays ready for the new summer term.
