A CLASS of pupils at an Oswestry primary school have been asked to self-isolate after two positive Covid-19 tests were returned.

Children in the Earlshill and Caradoc class at Holy Trinity Church of England Primary Academy and Nursery have been asked to self-isolate by the school’s headteacher after the positive tests.

School staff have been lateral flow testing for Covid-19 twice a week since children returned to classrooms.

Siblings of those in the Earlshill and Caradoc class have also been asked to isolate until PCR test results come back.

Principal Rod Dickson posted on Facebook on Sunday to say the request for children to isolate away from school is a precautionary measure.

He said: “Unfortunately two positive tests results have been returned on the lateral flow tests and those colleagues are now awaiting the outcome of a PCR test.

“To be safe rather than sorry, I am asking children in Earlshill AND Caradoc class to isolate away from school until the results of the PCR tests are known.

“This will also involve the siblings of Earlshill and Caradoc pupils elsewhere in the school.

“I am praying for my colleagues and our academy that the PCR test results return a negative finding.

“I hope that parents and carers understand that is a precautionary measure at this time and I am sure we would all agree that it is better to be vigilant where Covid is concerned.

“If your child is displaying any Covid-related symptoms then please ensure that they remain away from school and that they also receive a PCR test.

“I will be in contact with you all tomorrow regarding what our next steps will be. This message has also been sent out via Dojo and Parentpay.

“Please share with any parents you that have children in this class.”
