CHIRK-based manufacturer Kronospan has become a Hope House Business Champion in a new initiative helping to raise vital funds for the children’s hospice.

Hope House invited businesses in North Wales to become a Champion by initially donating £780 which could cover the cost of 10 days PPE for one child's stay.

Bekki Fardoe, Assistant Fundraiser for Hope House, presented Kronospan Chairman Mike McKenna with a certificate of thanks.

She said, “We are very grateful to Kronospan for their continued support and especially with this fundraising campaign which is so important to us.”

Kronospan Chairman Mike McKenna added: “Hope House is a wonderful charity which cares for seriously ill children and young adults and we are delighted to be able to continue to support them, especially at this difficult time.”

The pandemic has had a huge effect on the finances of the charity, with traditional fundraising events having to be cancelled and shops closed.

The charity now faces a £1.25million shortfall in income to date, while there are additional requirements for things like PPE and increased staffing levels.

The Business Champions from across North Wales as well as Shropshire, Cheshire and Powys have pledged to help directly fund some of the PPE costs for the hospices, with more than £100,000 being raised so far.
