A POWYS man was tasered and arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm to a female in Llanfyllin in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, March 18).
Dyfed Powys Police, assisted by the Joint Firearms Unit (JFU), said they arrested a 37-year-old man at 12.40am after he reportedly assaulted a female member of the public and was found to be in possession of a knife.
The JFU said the man was found in possession of several knives.
“A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm, following an incident in north Powys in the early hours of this morning,” Dyfed Powys Police said in a statement.
“Police were called to a disturbance at a property in Llanfyllin just after 00:20hrs this morning.
“A man was reported to have assaulted a female member of the public, and was found in possession of a knife.
“A Taser was discharged, and the man detained and arrested by 00:40hrs and taken to custody.”
The Joint Firearms Unit tweeted at around 6.30am: “Team 4 Northern Hub supported divisional officers at an ongoing disorder in North Powys this evening.
“On arrival at scene they were confronted by a subject in possession of knives and successfully utilised Taser to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.”
