A GLAMPING site proposal for land in Llansantffraid-ym-Mechain has been approved by Powys Council planners.

The green light given to the application means four pods can be built on land west of Godor Fawr on a site in the uplands of the Berwyn mountain range, south of Llansantffraid on the A495.

It will enable holiday-makers to enjoy ‘outdoor living’.

A design and access statement submitted with the application states that the site is “located in remote uplands of spectacular natural beauty”.

The statement adds: “The whole of the track, the site and all surrounding land are under the ownership of the applicant.

“These are typical of glamp design and consisting of one cooking, eating, sitting, sleeping room and wet room.

“To take advantage of the outdoor views and in keeping with outdoor living, a deck is also incorporated for outdoor seating, dining, but also bathing.

“As the glamps cater for outside living, it it considered necessary for them to be well spaced apart in order that each enjoys privacy from the others.”

The statement adds: “Two units are proposed within an existing copse.

“They have been positioned to be in natural clearings in order that there is little or no effect on existing trees and bushes.

“The buildings will be on piles rather than strip foundations – again to minimise effect on any planting. The (parking) provision is for one space per unit.

“There will be a central area at the end of the track for site storage / cabin which will eventually be the car park.

“The glamps will arrive as ‘flat packs’, the parts manhandled into position and assembled over piled foundations as previously described.”
