A PHYSICAL barrier between the Bailey Head and Bailey Street in Oswestry is just one of the new proposals being set out in a Shropshire Council consultation.

The new consultation is being launched to override one undertaken in 2020, with the new proposals from Shropshire Council designed to make the area a restricted parking zone with no waiting at any time and no loading from 10am to 4pm.

A spokesman said: "These changes are being proposed to improve regulation of traffic on Bailey Head and Arthur Street, while retaining appropriate provision for vehicles to drop off and pick up, market trading, and pedestrian amenity.

"It is proposed that the pedestrian zone in Bailey Street, Albion Hill, and New Street will be retained as outlined in the previous consultation for the Bailey Head Area – Vehicular Access and Waiting Restrictions – which closed on June 30, 2020.

"It is also proposed to install a physical barrier to prevent the movement of vehicles from Bailey Head to Bailey Street, which will improve pedestrian safety."

Comments and/or objections must be made by Tuesday, March 9.
