A MARTIAL arts instructor based in Gobowen has been awarded the rank of 6th Dan in Shinbudo Jujitsu

Mark Gerrard, from Gobowen, is a martial arts instructor (Sensei) who has served the town of Oswestry for 20 years.

He runs the Bu-shin Martial Arts School, a traditional school based on the values Mark learned after years of studying Karate, Jujitsu and Japanese weapons (Kobudo).

Mark was awarded the rank in January with an announcement by Kevin O’Connor – the founder of the International Nihon Shinbudo Facebook page.

Mark has been a popular instructor at national and international seminars having taught in the famous East Coast Gathering in America as well as having trained with Japanese karate instructors.

He also worked teaching martial arts safety courses for Wrexham Youth Service, The Duke of Edinburgh Award and in schools, colleges and youth organisations.

Covid lockdown has meant his classes have been closed, but he will commence teaching again once restrictions allow.
