An APPLICATION for a 'ride out area' in Criftins has gone out for public consultation after plans were submitted to Shropshire Council.

The plans, submitted on behalf of Sarah Jones and Gareth Breeze, are for Hawthorn Barn in Criftins and the pair are applying for consent for a 20 by 40-metre area.

The planning and access statement set out what the pair – who are key workers – are looking to do with the land.

It says: "We propose to apply for planning consent for the installation of a 20 by 40-metres all-weather exercising/riding area for our two horses, for private use only.

"It will be enclosed with post and rail fencing and hedges. The proposal is within a paddock of approx 1.5 acres owned by us."

The pair added that they only keep horses on the paddock and have found since living at the property, an all-weather surface was required for the winter months, because of muddy ground.

The application closes on Tuesday, February 16.
