Main roads have reopened after flooding caused by Storm Christoph closed them on Thursday.

As Storm Christoph pulls away and rainfall starts to ease, river levels in parts of mid Wales, Shropshire and Herefordshire could continue to rise for a little time to come.

Flooding near Welshpool airport has closed the A490 both ways between Cilcewydd and A458 Sarn Bryn Caled roundabout.

Llandrinio Bridge on the B4393 remains closed in both directions due to flooding. The bridge, which is between Llandrinio and Crew Green, has been closed since Thursday morning.

A landslide has closed an unclassified road in both directions between Aberllefenni and Aberangell, near Machynlleth. The road is expected to remain closed until the council has reassessed the situation.

The Environment Agency said river levels in the area are continuing to fall but remain high at Llanymynech as a result of Storm Christoph. Flooding to properties, roads and farmland is expected to continue, the agency added.

Flooding is also expected to affect low lying land and roads near the River Teme such as in Knighton.

Natural Resources Wales has three active flood alerts for the River Wye, River Lugg and Upper Severn in Powys.

Traffic Cymru has confirmed that the A483 between Welshpool and Newtown is now open again in both directions.

The A483 Buttington to Arddleen is also open again in both directions.

The Dyfi Bridge near Machynlleth also reopened this morning.
